Since I have been to China many times it was incredibly refreshing to have the essence of each stop on her journey captured through the voice of a poet. In very few words an image was conjured both familiar insightful and unique --- a shorthand version of the time, place and people. Underlying these descriptions is a subtle wit that made me nod in acknowledgement of what I had experienced when there.This is a lovely read for travelers, people interested in China and those who enjoy well considered poetic descriptions

I have had the pleasure of enjoying Melanie's poetry for a number of years. The imagery her rich prose brings is a delight to the mind and imagination. So glad that now I can have her work in digital format to bring with me wherever I go.
Wonderful to read this travel "diary" from an open-minded, clear-eyed poet who offers lyric snapshots of her journey. Each sight, each personal transaction is rendered lovely by the language -- even when the view or the interaction may not be literally so. Brava!
