Kept me turning the pages holding my interest. A Sinister plot,
A Victorian mansion, a innocent, trusting woman and lots of holding my breath.
Love the strong, interesting characters as the story unfolds and how each one, Murphy and Lettie, learn to depend on each other and ultimately love each other. Lettie's loyalty and love for her brother brings them on a quest to find him in Central America and try to save him.
The story has a good plot but it's too long and a bit contrived. The characters need more dimension. The worst part is the writing. As with all unedited books, this one gets worse the further toward the end you get. As if the author is in a hurry to finish. This attitude is evident in the story and in the writing. There are errors throughout and it only gets worse (5-10 per page) toward the last few chapters. Elizabeth needs a good editor. I edit romance novels so feel free to get in touch with me at my profbowman website. Until I receive an updated copy of this book with full editing, I will NOT purchase any more of Elizabeth's books. And I'm going to submit this one for a full refund. Don't bother to buy this book.
This was a great story! It had lots of intrigue and was full of life and death situations. I enjoyed reading this book and it held my attention throughout the entire book. I would recommend this book for any reader who has enjoyed soldier of fortune stories and those that are in a military setting.
What a story! Loved it from the beginning to the end! This book was captivating & kept me riveted to where I didn't want to put it down. I enjoy Ms. Macomber's books & am so pleased that she always mentions God's love & mercy throughout the book. I was so sad to learn that Murphy had passed away but so happy that he returned to be with Letty & that they were expecting baby. Kudos!
Debbie Macomber books have always been a good read, however it seems that this series is a little too risque and not totally to my liking. I will purchase the third book to complete the series, but so far I have been disappointed compared to her other books. I just hope Macomber is not changing her usual clean format of writing, otherwise I will not be buying her books
Letty has a twin brother and he was working in a missionary in another country and Letty knew something was wrong with him because she felt it. So she heard of a guy named Murphy so she hired him to find her brother but before he would do the job he wanted her to sleep with him, but she was a virgin and was scared to death so she said ok so that night she made steaks and salad out of her herb garden and put something in his dinner and than they went to bed and he tried but he Felt asleep and they left for their adventure and in months she found out that she was falling in love with Murphy and he finally fell in love with her. I couldn't stop reading this book Debbie kept me wanting to read more. I'm not much of a good reader but she kept me instead in all of her books so far I am thanking her delivery such a beautiful novel. Thanks again
