Hollywood? It's me. Sorry about before, but I have another favor to ask of you.Make this series of books into a movie. No, not in five years, not in two years. NOW.
I love stories with heroines that can be tender and vulnerable while they're at their strongest, butt-kickingest best, and Olina is one of those heroines. Having left the confines of the castle in which she has formed a relationship with her former love's brother, she finds solace as the Glacium equivalent of an MMA cage-fighter who fights under the name of Frost. She makes friends - and more than a few enemies - trying to avoid the politics that have caged her her whole life. But such a life is not so easily avoided.
I love the twists and turns that Kelly St. Clare's story has taken so far. Olina is so endearing that it's impossible not to love her (which more than a few male characters do). She's headstrong and ballsy and DAMNNNNN...
So Hollywood, now that Katniss's run at the box office is over, we need a new blockbuster heroine to feast upon. And her name is Olina.

Fantasy of Flight The Tainted Accords Kelly St Clare Melissa Scott Damonza com Books Reviews
It's always a little daunting when starting the next book in a series. You have high hopes to be able to jump back into the world that you just loved so much. And I must say that Kelly St. Clare has made that jump a very easy!
I'll let you know about what I didn't quite find believable but let it slide because it was just so well written. Our hero, Olina, ends up basically as a fighter for hire. I am not sure since when her fighting skills were so unsurpassed. She's one of the best fighters almost immediately. I didn't quite get that but regardless I found myself rooting for her the entire time! She ends up bunking with some other fellow fighters and Kelly St. Clare breathes such life into all of them. There are plenty of characters at a given time and each of them is given certain characteristics and dialogue that make them feel REAL and UNIQUE. Sheer talent right there! And I like Sin a lot. He amused me quite a bit. I also enjoyed that Frost's group all acted like a family in their own silent ways. They took care of each other and forged a bond. I hope we see them again in another novel.
Later on in the novel Olina ends up back to where she first started. Back to Joven's palace once again. This also reveals the next thing that I did not quite like so much. He is so quick to let every idiotic and brave action that she does go by without any sort of repercussion. Not even a slap on the wrist. This makes him sound like a lenient and lax leader and I really want to see his dark and violent side. I am sure he is not just a king because of the title alone. There has to be more and I look forward to seeing that side (hopefully in the next book. I've already purchased it).
Another thing that seemed very mildly silly to me is that basically no one put 2 and 2 together to connect that 'Frost' was Olina. I am sure her tone of voice, stature, etc, remained the same with her veil on and off.
These 3 issues are my personal gripes. Now, onto what I loved.
World building. This book series is proving to be one of those books that sucks you right in. The kind that you need to sit in silence and read. The kind that when someone tries to talk to you, it makes you look up at them for a moment as you've forgotten where you are. It's amazing, and delicious to the mind.
The fight scenes when 'Frost' was living in the dregs of the outer society circle were just top notch. Everything written was a visual packed punch. It flowed so freely and the scenes often danced in my head. Definitely some fast paced badassery by 'Frost'.
I need more of Olina and Joven. It's obvious in everything he does that he cares about her a lot more than she realizes just yet. It's quite blatant in his actions, his mannerisms. His speech. I don't think she's let herself quite realize how deep his emotions for her run. Perhaps she is still naive and inexperienced when it comes to love because all she knows was one man who she would see periodically on and off. Brief, hidden moments and not much more. Her and Joven have a LOT to talk about at some point, including their brief tryst.
If you like cinematic like scenes to flow through your mind at breakneck pace, read this series!

I've sat here and thought about how to express my feelings for this book and I'm just... gonna go with it. Lol This is not a bad reaction, no it's one of fondness and intrigue. I really enjoyed this book. I like the addition of so many new characters and the interactions between them and Lina.
However, there were many, many, many times I wanted to reach into the pages of this book and snatch that gal up and choke the craziness out of her. Seriously she made me so mad a few times I just had to walk away. But I came back cause dang it, I had to know what that crazy gal was up to next.
The pages flowed slow at times, and a little too quickly on parts but I think the overall balance is there. Lina is danger magnet. Like seriously. She becomes one of the best fighters on the pits of the outer rings, all while searching for Kedrick's killer. One thing turns to two and then it all comes crashing down.
As with anything Lina does she pulls out all the stops. Thank God Jovan has seen her without her veil. It's seriously the ONLY thing that saves her hide and the hides of the men she's grown to call family. This in turn gives her a reunion with the castle but not as herself. Things get tricky and in the blink of an eye, she's running.
Once again she's on the outskirts but when word gets to her a Solati man has been taken to the king she has to go see who it is. When Lina sets eyes on here brother, she's herself again. Back in the place she just ran from. Back where she ran from the man, the king that wants and needs her...
It makes it hard when word gets to her that trouble is heading their way. Death may be calling on them all soon. It's up to Lina to find a way around it...
She has one shot at this... if she fails, many will die.
